Artists Profile

Peggy Charboneau is a self-described a visual thinker. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles. She has trained in painting and drawing for decades. Her first wave of work was abstract in style. Over the years, it grew more representational. The current style is  "figuration,” meaning a mash-up of the figurative or representational style with the nonobjective, abstract style. Her medium is oil, mixed media and acrylic on canvas in a medium sized scale.

Personal Biography

I have studied art and painted since I was twelve. I am now in my seventies and still an “emerging artist." I had a thirty year career in high tech sales and marketing. I never stopped making art and pursuing my art education. When I was retired, I asked myself, "what other than sell software do you know how to do?" The answer was paint. I know how to paint. 

My first series, called Contemporary Armor, was painted while still in corporate life. It explored two common belief systems. First that the glorification of objects and material success could fill a spiritual void. The second part of the series explores the belief that to survive the corporate world (business as warfare)  one needed to develop a set armor to protect and conquer.

My next  series was a stylistic stew, called Drinking with My Eyes,  that included landscapes, still lifes and figures that are in the figuration style. Currently, I am working on a series of abstract/figuration grid paintings.

My goal is to leave this earth looking for the good light with paint on my hands.
